Check out the new Audio Nirvana Drivers

http://www.commonsenseaudio.com/

You have to click on the "Audio Nirvana" button on the left of the page.

Then scroll down to see the stats/graphs.

15" coax, but IMO, the tweeter response sux .

More importantly , the 10" AlNiCo driver looks very impressive !  ! !

Look how well behaved the impedence curve is.

I sure would like to see a 12" AlNiCo driver from these guys. . . .

Re: Check out the new Audio Nirvana Drivers

you reminded me I've a pair of Super8 regular laying out and their curves and qts look great for Karlson duty.   Vas somehow loos a bit off on that Alnico 10 (?)

Re: Check out the new Audio Nirvana Drivers

How does it look "off" ?

188.98 litres is 6.68 cu.ft.

Seems appropriate enough to me. What am I missing ?

Re: Check out the new Audio Nirvana Drivers

it's just the regular super10 has a Vas spec of 102l and similar fs and mms (I think)

Regular Super10

Super10 alnico

I like the regular Super10 better in a Karlson coupler than reflex - the Karlson reduces cone excursion,
increasing dynamics and the sound-field is more pleasant with the coupler than the blaring direct-radiator

Re: Check out the new Audio Nirvana Drivers

The AlNiCo is about 1 gram lighter, and about 1/2 a hertz lower in Fs. Look at the difference in Qts ! ! !  HUGE difference there. Regular Super 10 = .286 VS AlNiCo Super 10 = .534 ! HUGE difference in BL as well. RS10 = 11.98 VS AS10 6.66 .

Ah , but then look at the impedence plots. The RS10 has a 60+ ohm peak at resonance while the AS10 has only a 35 ohm peak at resonance.  Sweet.  Run the AS10 in a sealed stuffed cab and you have about a 15 ohm peak at resonance , or open baffle for the full 35 ohm peak.

The AS10 in a sealed/stuffed cab (2lb/cu.ft. fibreglass) with a Q of .7 would be about -3db at 45 hertz with a 15 ohm peak at resonance ! ! !  Granted, I am just giving plug N play numbers here, but I would expect they are very close to reality.

That would give a total impedence between 8-15 ohms for the whole driver bandwidth ! alk about an easy load to drive !

That is quite awesome .  They seriously need to come up with a 12" AlNiCo driver. I'd be all over that ! ! !
